My October Goals
It’s that time again! The beginning of the month is when I take a moment to get quiet and set new goals. Sharing my goals here on my blog increases public accountability, and I hope to see an improvement in my follow through as a result. I can’t wait to share what my October goals are (I’ve also got some fun freebies for you this month), but first, let me be straight up about how my September goals went.

While I had every intention of reading a novel, I could not put down Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert long enough to read anything else. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to cultivate more creativity in their lives! Anyways, once I finish this book, I’ll be reading a novel as intended last month.
Spending mindfully meant that I thought twice before each purchase, and took advantage of sales throughout the month. Most of my purchases last month were investments for my Etsy shop, which is always a good investment.
I know that my goal to waste less is something that takes more than just one month to achieve. I did okay last month, but I know I can do much better. I’ll continue to be aware of, and reduce waste around the house.
Yoga! Remember when I told the truth about how I only did yoga ONCE during the month of August? Well, this month I finally got into the habit of rolling out my matt more often. I finished September strong with three days of yoga during the last week, and I’ve got no intention of slowing down now. Turns out creating a more specific goal really helped.
Focusing on the good was my favorite goal from last month and inspired me to add a “monthly mantra” to my October list. It’s amazing how a shift in perspective can open up your world and soften your heart. So many wonderful opportunities found me last month, and I know keeping a positive outlook created the energy needed to attract more good into my life.

I’ve been craving a deeper connection with nature lately. One of my favorite ways to unplug and get grounded is to go hiking. Now that the weather is finally cool enough to actually enjoy being outdoors in the sun ( summer was brutal in LA this year), my goal is to go for a hike once a week. Whether it’s on the weekend with a friend or a solo activity during a day off, I’m really looking forward to keeping this goal.
Welcoming Fall means it’s time to get my hands dirty and plant my fall garden! I have been doing some reading to help with my confidence as a new veggie gardener. I’m so excited to put what I’ve learned to use. I plan to grown lots of leafy greens for salads, carrots, and maybe even some broccoli and cauliflower! Do you have a garden? Okay, let me clarify. I don’t mean that I’m only going to take a multi-vitamin for this month. What I mean is that I want to set the habit of taking a multi-vitamin every day so that it can become the norm. This method worked wonderfully for my goal in August of drinking more water. I’m hoping for similar results this month so that I can have a strong immune system through the winter.
For so long I shuddered at the idea of creating a new blog post every week. I thought it seemed far-fetched and even unlikely that I could create that much new content. However, after a year of blogging, I’m starting to see that showing up consistently is extremely important in order for my audience to feel engaged. Often times what keeps me from publishing a new post is not having the perfect images to go along with it. This month, I’m letting go of my need for every post to be “perfect,” and instead I’m focusing on showing up consistently. You can hold me accountable for this goal by subscribing to my blog via email (in your sidebar or at the bottom of your screen if you’re reading this on your phone) so that you get alerts in your inbox anytime I publish a new post. Expect to see a new post EVERY SINGLE WEEK this month. I won’t let you down!
I’m so excited to be hosting a Friendsgiving this year. I had one a few years ago when I lived in a tiny apartment, and it was such a memorable event. Now I live in a house with a large patio and a gorgeous farmhouse table that my step-dad built for us. I cannot wait for that patio to be filled with friends and the table to be covered with delicious food. I know that a good party takes planning ahead, so I’m going to work out all the details this month. Have you ever hosted a Friendsgiving?
This month I added a new element to my goal list. Inspired by my goal to “focus on the good” in September, I am now including a mantra of the month. This month my mantra is: “DONE IS BETTER THAN PERFECT.” Yep, let that sink in. Such a game changer right? Instead of striving to get everything done perfectly, I’m focused on simply getting it done. As long as the intention behind what I’m doing is pure, there is no need to strive for perfection. The more fixated I become on things being perfect, the longer they take to complete. Not this month! New month, new mantra, new mindset. Boom.
