My August Goals
Hello lovelies! Can you believe that this year is over halfway over? How is everyone doing with their themes for this year? Personally, for my theme of “diving deeper,” there have been some wins and some shortcomings. In order to finish the year off strong, I’ve decided to start a new series here on the blog where I will share my goals for each month. Since my blog is the place where I show up as my best, most intentional self, I hope that sharing my goals here with you will help me keep me to stay accountable and follow through. I also created a fun graphic list that I can hang up in my room as a fun visual reminder. Keep reading to find out my goals for this month.
At the end of July, I was diagnosed with pneumonia and severe heat exhaustion. As a result, I drastically increased my water intake in order to stay hydrated, detox and heal. I’ve noticed a change in my energy levels and my skin is looking better than ever! I want to continue with drinking more water throughout the month- until it becomes the norm. I’ve also been experimenting with various water infusions, which I will share on the blog soon.
There is no questioning the benefits of meditation. I go through phases where I meditate daily, and then fall off the wagon (can anyone else relate?). This month, I want to establish a daily meditation practice, keyword: daily. I also want to remember that meditation can take many forms. One day it could be using an app such as Simple Habit for a guided meditation, another day it could zoning out while coloring, or going for a slow, mindful walk around the block. Diving deeper into my yoga practice was one of my main goals at the beginning of the year, and I’m failing miserably. My yoga mat remains rolled up in a corner of my office gathering dust and inspiring guilt. This is the month where I will create time for my yoga practice at home. I have the perfect amount of space in my living room, access to plenty of free yoga videos online, and a desire to return to the mat. No more excuses!
I launched my Etsy shop on June 30th and I have been loving learning the ins and outs of this new creative venture. I’m currently selling fine art photography prints, instant-download artwork, and journaling kits. I have so many new ideas for products to offers such as handmade greeting cards, and palo santo cleansing kits! Having ideas is great and all, but this month I plan to take action to give these new items a home in the Joi Knows How Shop. Look for new listings later this month!
August marks the end of Summer which means it’s time to start planning some Fall content for the blog! A few ideas I have are menu-planning, how to host a fabulous Friendsgiving, and giving thanks. I also want to incorporate more recipes and DIY projects into my Fall content. Planning ahead of time is essential so that I can schedule photo shoots, and write meaningful posts without feeling rushed. I can’t wait to dream up more amazingness to share with you!
There you have it, my goals for this month. Do you set and share monthly goals? Sharing your goals publicly increases your chances of following through because you will feel accountable to someone other than yourself. The first step is to set aside some time to think about your goals. Next, write them down, or create a fun visual list like I did. Lastly, share your goals publicly. Writing a Facebook or Instagram post works great. If you’re not comfortable posting your goals publicly, texting your bestie, or placing your list somewhere in your home where your family will see it is just fine. The point is to let someone else know your plans so that you will feel a greater sense of outward accountability.
