6 Simple Ways to Celebrate Spring
Do you celebrate the change in seasons? Here in LA, our weather changes are subtle and yet, Spring inspires me to focus on my personal growth and re-awakening. These simple practices are a great way to celebrate the blossoming of Spring, no matter your location. Some are expected, while others may be a fresh idea that you hadn’t thought of. Keep reading to learn six simple ways to celebrate this colorful season.
1. Spring Cleaning
Okay, so this may be an obvious one. Celebrate Spring by indulging in a little Spring cleaning! I tend to do a deep cleaning just before the New Year and it’s nice to return in Spring and spruce things up a bit. Reserve a few hours on a sunny Saturday afternoon, put on some good music, open your windows to the breeze and enjoy a good cleaning session. I suggest working room by room on different days so you don’t feel overwhelmed. Last weekend I got my living room in order, and this weekend I will start in the bedroom. Of course, for me, Spring cleaning also includes cleansing my crystals and making sure my houseplants are in good shape.
Spring cleaning also offers the perfect opportunity to refresh your shelves, display different items, put some new artwork up and change out the pictures in your frames. Spring is all about renewal, so don’t be afraid to switch things up! If you’re looking for some new artwork, you can check out my art prints here.

2. Sow Some Seeds
Is there anything more rewarding than planting a seed and watching it grow? During the longer, warmer days of Spring, seedlings easily get what they need to thrive which is why is it the prime planting season. Even if you don’t have a garden plot or a yard, you can sow some seeds in pots in the Spring and enjoy a summer harvest. Perhaps start a pot with seeds of your favorite herbs! For more information about sowing seeds, check out this article from the Black Girls With Gardens blog.
My boyfriend and I celebrated Spring by building a garden bed! We followed simple instructions from this book. It was SO easy and massively rewarding. Just a few days after sowing some seeds we began to see shoots sprouting. Such a wonderful sight.
3. Keep Fresh Flowers in Your Home
Nothing says Springtime like a colorful bouquet of flowers! Take the Spring season as a queue to begin keeping fresh flowers in your home (if you don’t already). I instantly feel a sense of cheerfulness from having flowers on my coffee table. There is something so uplifting about Mother Nature’s Springtime color palette.
Below is a bouquet that I made from my mom’s flower garden. Everything is in bloom and the colors are so exquisite! Don’t have a flower garden to pick from? No biggie! Simply add “flowers” to your next grocery list. When shopping for a bouquet for your home, look for bunches that still have a few buds that have not opened yet, this way you will be able to watch them bloom, and the bouquet will last longer.
4. Add a Pop of Color to Your Wardrobe
Another fun way to celebrate Spring is to add a fun pop of color to your wardrobe. Here I’m wearing a bright pink skirt that I got from a thrift store ( I couldn’t be bothered with ironing lol), paired with a black and white graphic tee. I wouldn’t usually wear this shade of pink but it’s a perfect look for Spring.
If wearing bright clothing is too far out of your comfort zone, you can opt for adding a pop of color to your Spring wardrobe with accessories. I love pairing these green cactus earrings and this vintage necklace for a fun colorful look.
5. Work Outside
The weather is warmer and the days are longer. If you work from home, consider taking your work outside. I have been setting up an outdoor office in my front yard on my work-from-home-days and I feel so much more energized throughout the day from being outdoors. I love looking down and seeing my feet on the grass and looking up into a clear blue sky. I’ll glance up from my laptop to see Hummingbirds zip past to land on our feeders in the garden, it’s magical! Make sure your laptop is charged ahead of time so that you can enjoy a couple of hours working outdoors without interruption. If you don’t have a yard, a park works just as well.
If you don’t work from home, consider taking breaks outside and eat your lunch outdoors. Or, enjoy a nice stroll around the block once you get home from work to soak in a few rays of that warm Spring sunshine.
6. Revisit Your Goals From the Beginning of the Year
We are a few months into the year now, so it’s a great time to revisit the goals that you set back in January. If you read my post about choosing a theme for the year, you may want to see if your theme has begun to take shape thus far. By checking back in on the theme you chose for the year, you will renew your focus and be reminded of why you chose that theme. If you didn’t choose a theme for the year back in January, it’s not too late! A year is 365 days and you can set new intentions anytime, not just on New Year’s Day.
Of course, if you have specific goals, this is a great time to check in on those as well. For example, one of my goals was to create art prints inspired by my blog, and I’m happy to report that I have accomplished that. My decision to spend more time in nature this year has taken me out into the garden, but could I dive deeper? Perhaps setting aside more time for hikes or going camping? Checking in on how the year has progressed creates an opportunity to re-focus on our vision for the year, and make adjustments as needed. Consider this your mental Spring Cleaning.
