While walking a friend’s dogs one morning I happened upon a beautiful Morning Glory vine. The green stems and leaves were winding carelessly about the wall, each leading to a beautifully energetic purple bloom.
The interesting thing about Morning Glories is that the blooms close tightly at night. They are wrapped safely in their own petals, only to open up again in the morning when they unravel and are fully open to the sun, absorbing the fresh scent of a new day.
This got me thinking: I want to be like that vibrant flower. I want to wake up every day, stretch my arms wide and drink in the sunshine. I want to remain open, even if I sometimes have to wrap myself in a veil of safety through the night. I want to have faith in the goodness of things. Just like a Morning Glory, I want to awaken with an open heart.
